Bayan University organized a safety workshop and conducted a practical simulation exercise on evacuating buildings in the event of earthquakes

On Sunday 19/2/2023, based on the directives of His Excellency Dr. Abdulsalam Muhammad Saeed Al-Hayali, Chairman of the Board of Trustees at our university, his Excellency Professor Dr. Ahmed Anwar Dezaye, President of the University, and under the supervision of the vice-President of the University and Chairman of the Health and Safety Committee, Dr. Mohammad Ahmad Ramadan, the Health and Safety Committee at our university organized in partnership with the Directorate of Civil Defense in Erbil in the Newroz hall at Bayan university, conducted a workshop on the safety of teachers, staff and students in the event of earthquakes.
In this workshop, Police Senior officers, Muqaddam, Mr. (Karwan Merawdeh Lee), a consultant, judicial expert, holder of a master's degree in civil defense, and director of the Training and Courses Division at the Civil Defense Directorate in Erbil, gave a lecture entitled (The Art of Dealing with Accidents and Disasters) and related to how to act in the event of an earthquake, forms and mechanisms Evacuation in such cases, then the lecturer answered accurately and in detail the questions and inquiries of the attendees.
After the workshop, a team of employees of the Civil Defense Directorate in Erbil and students of our university conducted a practical simulation exercise about evacuating our university building from faculty members, staff and students to a safe place (university gardens) according to civil defense instructions in the event of an earthquake.
In this workshop, his Excellency Dr. Abdulsalam Muhammad Saeed Al-Hayali, Chairman of the Board of Trustees at our university, has presented a proposal to form a team of volunteers at Bayan University for accidents and disasters. The steps for implementing this proposal will be announced later.
The deans of faculties, heads of departments, department directors at our university, officers and employees of the Directorate of Civil Defense in Erbil, and a number of dear guests from the Ministry of Education and faculty at Salahaddin University-Erbil attended this workshop, in addition to a large number of faculty, staff and students of our university.
In conclusion, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees presented the shield of our university to the Directorate of Civil Defense in Erbil, and his Excellency presented a certificate of thanks and appreciation to the Police Senior Officers, Muqaddam, Mr. (Karwan Merawdeh Lee).
