Structure of the University

BNU University consists of academic departments and research centres, administrative departments, and the library. There are currently 4 colleges at University. 

Board of Trustees

This is the governing body of the University, who exercise guardianship over assets and resources, ensuring their effective management, control and use. Under the Charter, the Board of Trustees is the governing body of the University. Members of the Board of Trustees are accepting ultimate responsibility for directing the affairs of the University by ensuring that it is solvent, well-run and delivering the charitable outcomes for the benefit of the public for which it was established.

BNU Council

The Council of the University is responsible for the academic policy and strategic direction of the University. It operates through five major committees: Education; General Purposes; Personnel; Planning and Resource Allocation; and Research.

Colleges and Departments

BNU’s 4 colleges are including 6 departments. They are independent, self-governing units, which are related to BNU. Each college has its own statutes, endowment and governing body, which comprises the Dean and Head of Departments. In terms of teaching, the colleges provide tutorials, while the University organises lectures and seminars, sets the syllabuses, examines students, and awards degrees. 

The Department for Continuing Education is the focus of the University’s lifelong learning, professional development and online learning activities. It provides university education to those who wish to study part-time, through short full-time courses 

Administrative services

The central administrative departments of the University are collectively called University Administration and Services.

Senior University Officers

President

The President, who is usually an eminent public figure, serves as the titular head of the University and presides over all major ceremonies. The President is appointed by the BNU Board of Trustees holds the position for 4 years and open to renewal.

Vice Presidents

The Vice-President is the principal academic and administrative officer of the University and is appointed by BOT of BNU to hold office for four years, with the possibility of extending by a further agreed period. The role of the Vice President is to provide strategic direction and leadership to the University. The Vice President chairs Council and other principal University bodies and nominates deputies to chair others. He or she works closely with the colleges to ensure a coherent vision across all the constituent parts of the University and works with Council, the divisions, and the Conference of Colleges to ensure that the governance, management and administration of the University are efficient and effective.

Dean's of College

The office of the Dean of the Colleges supports the academic program of the departments, guiding the college and the academic departments.
