(THE DEPARTMENT OF LAW AT THE COLLEGE OF LAW, INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS AND DIPLOMACY ORGANIZES A WORKSHOP ON FEDERAL LEGISLATION TO COMBAT MONEY LAUNDERING CRIMES IN IRAQI LAW)

The Department of Law at the College
of Law, International Relations and Diplomacy organized today, Saturday 10-12-2022, a workshop entitled (Federal Legislation to Combat Money Laundering Crimes) in the presence of the University President, the Vice-President for Administration and Student Affairs, deans of faculties, heads of departments, faculty members at Bayan University and students of Department of Law.
Mr.Botan Bakr, a lecturer in the Law Department, gave a lecture entitled (Money Laundering Crime in Iraqi Law - Sources and Reasons) in which he talked about the seriousness of this crime and the legislative policy to address the sources of money laundering and the role of the Kurdistan Regional Government in international participation and cooperation with the federal government to monitor these crimes and hold the perpetrators accountable. Mr. (Jihad Haweez Mahmoud), Director of the Board of Trustees in (stop) organization, presented a lecture entitled (The Role of Civil Society Organizations in Combating Money Laundering Crimes), where he stressed the need to develop awareness programs to show the seriousness of these crimes for the individual and society and the negative effects that result from them in the field of money laundering,the national economy, security and peace within society.
 Mr. (Dr. Muhammad Riyad Al- Mawsili) also presented a lecture entitled (The Financial Crimes System and the Importance of Investigating Money Laundering Crimes). He emphasized the mechanisms of investigating financial crimes and the conformity of investigation procedures in these crimes to international standards and means of international cooperation in the field of investigation and trial .
After the three lectures, scientific and legal discussions were held on these crimes by the participants .Session was organized and moderated by (Dr. Sulaf Abdullah), Dean of the College of Law, International Relations and Diplomacy .
At the end of the session, the President of Bayan University, Prof. Dr. Ahmed Anwar Dezaye, presented certificates of appreciation and the shield of Bayan University to the lecturers in the workshop.
