Working at Bayan

How to apply for a post at Bayan University, and what a complete application contains.

Where posts are advertised

Every post the university is recruiting for appears on the vacancies page, with the college or office it sits in, what the work involves and what the post requires. A post that is not listed there is not open. The job application form is how you apply for one that is.

What the form asks

One form per post. If two posts interest you, send two applications, each answering that post's requirements.

The post

The title of the post you are applying for and where you saw it advertised.

Personal and contact details

Name as it appears on your identity document, nationality, and the telephone number and email address you actually use.

Qualifications

Each degree you hold: the award, the institution that granted it, the field, and the year.

Employment history

Positions held in order, most recent first, with dates and the reason for leaving each. Account for gaps rather than leaving them unexplained.

Teaching and research

For academic posts: the subjects you have taught and at what level, supervision experience, your publications, and your current research interests.

Languages

Kurdish, Arabic and English, with an honest assessment of your level in each.

Referees

Two people who have supervised your work and are willing to be contacted, with their positions and contact details.

What a complete application contains

  • The completed form
  • A curriculum vitae
  • Certificates for every qualification claimed, with an equivalency decision where the degree was awarded abroad
  • Identity document
  • For academic posts, a publication list and any teaching evaluations you hold

An application that claims a qualification without evidence of it is not shortlisted. The committee can only compare what it can verify.

How an application is handled

  1. Applications are checked against the requirements published with the post.
  2. A shortlist is drawn up by the college or office that is recruiting.
  3. Shortlisted candidates are invited to interview; academic posts normally include a teaching demonstration.
  4. Referees are contacted before any offer is made.
  5. Everyone who reached the shortlist is told the outcome.

Applying when nothing is advertised

Unsolicited applications are kept on file and looked at when a related post opens, but no reply can be promised until one does. If your field is one the university actually teaches, say so plainly in a covering letter and send it to the human resources office.
